I had the privilege to shoot these three awesome cars for TopCar. We went for a little joy ride (650km) to shoot and test these 200kw+ saloons. Check it out in the June issue! (Volume 21 nr 6) I love my job. Desmond
Last week we had the privilege to shoot one of my (Desmond) best friends wedding. And to top it off in one of my favorite places in the world!! Dave is one of those friends you can chat to about anything, we drink way to much coffee together, I hope we can carry on with this little tradition… It was such an awesome wedding, spending time with some of my special friends. Mark the MC was rocking the show with awesome music and we danced to good old rock and roll till my body dropped. In some of the pix you can spot ‘pig’s head’, that’s where Christine and Dave got engaged, it’s Christine’s favourite place in the world. I picked up Dave and Christine from the airport last night, and they could not stop telling me what a wonderful time they had on honeymoon in Zanzibar. What a rocking wedding to finish off a very busy summer season. Dave and Christine, thank you! Desmond and Toni
“I think you guys are up for an adventure, right?” was a sentence in one of Edré’s first emails when booking us to shoot her and Riaan’s wedding. We met last year in winter for a little portrait shoot at Milnerton Market and now (finally :) they got married. The wedding was at 3pm “under the tree” at Victorskraal, Riaan’s parents holding close to Nature’s Valley. It was a beautiful, natural campsite-adventure wedding with the closest family and friends – absolutely how we like it: super relaxed with amazing food. Everyone was somehow involved in the wedding, it was beautiful how everything came together. The wedding ended the next morning with planting a tree! Thanx guys for allowing us to be part of it, it was a wedding to remember!
Two CA’s met at work, fell in love, now got married – the story of Louise and Jano from Johannesburg. The young couple decided to get married in the Cape, on the beautiful beach in Gaansbaai and later on at the stunning Grootbos Reserve, a setting like paradise. In front of only an intimate group of family and friends they said their vows and celebrated the next big step of their lives. All the best Louise and Jano, it was a magical day! Cheers, Desmond and Toni
Okay, okay, yes… Tania and Bill love to kiss, so that’s why there are that many kissing-pix :) They are sooo in love, it’s incredible, it’s infectious. Their wedding was full of smiles and laughter, they were super (!) relaxed, they just enjoyed the day (good role models for everyone that is still getting married!). There was the smell of the sea, the sun, there was rain and there were a couple of rainbows. After doing two weddings in the Free State this summer, it was great to see known faces! Tania and Bill stay in Trompsburg (Free State), Tania’s parents live in Hartenbos (close to Mossel Bay) where the wedding took place. It was great being part of such a cute farm-y wedding with so many friends and family (quite a few are into sheep-farming, Tania’s dad is a sheep celebrity in SA :). Their wedding cake was also their birthday cake, as they both share the same birthday, that they celebrated at midnight and the next day! This was awesome, thanks Tania & Bill! P.S. I (Toni) have to confess, I love to see men cry, so this wedding was heartwarming. :) P.P.S. Tania and Bill are so ...
The Easter weekend started off pretty rainy – but come on, we think the rain has its charm (we love the rain!). What was planned as an outside picnic wedding had to be changed into a cosy indoors wedding. Kate and Chris, as easy going as they are, didn’t mind. After a beautiful ceremony in Tokai (the awesome UCT choir performed), the rain stopped for a good 25 minutes and we could snap some shots outside with all the bridesmaids and best men (how cool are the girls outfits?). That Kate (the doctor) and Chris (the IT dude) make pretty good models, we know since we did a little shoot with them in Observatory. The Casa Labia in surfer town Muizenberg is a beauty and makes a fantastic backdrop for lovely celebrations. A band, heart warming food and a casual but festive vibe made last Saturday a day to remember (plus, we saw a rainbow!). Guys, it was a joy being part of your awesome wedding! Much love, Toni & Desmond
Cara and Kevin have known each other since high school; last Saturday they got hitched. Have a look at our favorite pix of the day of the two lovebirds. We did the portrait shoot on Table Mountain Road – isn’t our Cape Town a beauty? Cara and Kevin, enjoy your honeymoon Europe-trip! Cheers, Toni & Desmond P.S. We got amazing feedback for their couple shoot, have you seen the two being pretty good models?
Cape Town, Saturday, 7 am, when most of us are still in bed, we met up with Isabel and Graeme to walk through Newlands Forest. The freshness of the morning as well as the light were absolutely worth it. And all of us were surprised how busy it was in Newlands Forest so early. Lesson learned: “Seize the day” (early). It was great seeing you two awesome peeps again! Until your wedding, Toni & Desmond
Nicci and Jonathan’s wedding was in the centre of Cape Town, in Company’s Garden. After the ceremony at the Gardens Shul, guests only had to make a few steps for a feast with great food, awesome live music and lots of dancing. Have a look at some of our favorite pictures. Nicci and Jonathan, all the best! Toni and Desmond
Saskia and Mauro are an international couple, just like us. She is Swiss, he’s an Italian South African. Both lived together in London. And where did they meet? While traveling in Mexico. I love these travel-love-stories! After their cute and intimate wedding in Noordhoek with close friends and family from all over the world, they are traveling the Western Cape, then Australia and then South Asia. We are jealous but so happy to got to know them a little. All the best, Toni & Desmond
We met Isis (French Lebanese) and Christopher (South African) last week when they were on a short Cape Town holiday to plan their wedding. As they live in London and will only be back in SA in December, we decided to do the couple shoot asap and decided for beautiful Glen Beach close to Camps Bay. We think they are a pretty good-looking couple. Agree? Isis and Chris, we are looking forward to seeing you again in December! Cheers, Toni & Desmond
Woooooww… what a wedding feast. Barbara (lawyer) and Michael (in fashion) from Durban celebrated their seriously grande wedding at The Grand in Cape Town with a bunch of good looking and well dressed people. At 10pm, Goldfish played – yes, it was a jol!
Nicci and Jonathan, a beautician and a finance man, are getting married this month (we are excited!!). We walked around Cape Town’s university, UCT, chatted about their wedding and took a few pix. Yes, we do love (!) sun flare. Toni and Des
Weatherwise, Cape Town is a little bit like London: even though rain is predicted, the sun might still shine, you might need a jacket, you might need a bikini, you never know. Surfers Femke and Arjon came all the way from the Netherlands to Cape Town to celebrate their love and wedding with a small group of family and friends. Planned was a summer beach wedding at Big Bay; it was a warm and cold and windy and rainy AND sunny day. And you know what: the weather didn’t matter. Have a look at the pictures, Femke and Arjon are so in love and not too shy to show… what an exciting moment when Femke walked down the beachy aisle, Arjon was sooo happy that he couldn’t stop saying “Femke, you look beautiful”, lifting up his arms in excitement. This was a wedding where things just went with the flow… we loved it. The beautiful old (of course orange) kombi had a little break down on the way to Franschhoek but it all added to the fun. SO nice meeting you, Femke and Arjon, it was awesome. No guts, no glory! Toni and Desmond
Meet Kate and Chris, an awesome couple (lady doctor and IT guy) from Observatory, Cape Town. We met at their beautiful house for a cup of coffee and walked through their hood with dogs Winston and Mable, close to the train station. Chris’ Rambler was a perfect prop. Cheers, Toni and Desmond
When we shot the wedding at the Gariep Dam two weeks ago, we didn’t know that two weeks later we would shoot in the Free State again. Drien and Hendri booked us last minute and we are so lucky to experience a different part of South Africa as well as awesome (!!!) people. The wedding was at Drien’s family’s farm, her parents are sheep farmers, so is Drien, so is Hendri. And WOW – what a wedding it was: 300 happy people… everything was outside in the sun, later under the stars… loads of happy friends and family. The wedding was an absolute blast! Thank you Drien and Hendri! You absolutely rock! Toni and Desmond
How amazing is it that we get flown to places we haven’t been to before ‘just’ to shoot a wedding. We are awesomely blessed. So last weekend we flew from Cape Town to Bloemfontein and drove back south on the N1 to shoot Leanne and Gertjan’s wedding at the Gariep Dam in the Central Karoo. What an amazing, different setting?! We loved the road trip and also, the wedding was a little bit of a road trip. The wedding ceremony was in the church of the little town Philippolis, the first part of the reception at a beautiful farm between Philippolis and the Gariep Dam (remember the dusty road) and the evening reception at the Destijl Gariep Hotel. It was one cool affair with music (yes, Gertjan is a singer), candle light and lot’s of laughter and joy. Thanx for flying us in to be part of this awesome day. Toni & Desmond
It is always worth it getting up (too) early for good light. I mean, look at the pictures above and you will agree, there’s nothing better than an African sunrise. Hilda and Lourens (from good old Brackenfell) met us in Kalk Bay, we went for a walk and took a few pix. The theme: blue and balloons. After this, we went to their favourite spot: Surfers Corner in Muizenberg – they go surfing a couple of times a week. To be honest, the waves weren’t that great that day but it was still awesome to get into the water with them. We are pumped for your winter-West-Coast-wedding in August! Toni & Desmond
We are so blessed with beautiful weddings. Alexa and Alastair (from Joburg) decided to get married in the Cape, in the beautiful wine town Stellenbosch. It was a joyous and hot day with many smiles. And Alexa has probably the biggest smile we have ever seen on a bride. A happy day with beautiful people at the stunning Glen Carlou restaurant. Have a look at a few of our favourite pictures from the day.
A drive to Muizenberg always feels like a little holiday-trip. Muizenberg, the place where we usually go surf was the place where we finally got to shoot a wedding again. We were so excited to document a wedding at the amazing and beautiful venue Casa Labia – good choice, Yaninka and Ryan. Ryan is originally from this area (well, Fish Hoek), so there is a deep sea-view connection ;) Remember the shoot we did with them in Kalk Bay? A hot summer day while spotting many surfers in the waves while experiencing an intimate and beautiful wedding.
We loved Caroline and Andy’s wedding, it reminded us so much of our wedding. It was a relaxed, intimate and just a love-filled affair with very close family and friends that came all the way from the UK. Absolutely our style. The venue was the beautiful Fynbos Estate in Malmesbury – and we loved the drive, the vibe, music, good weather, laughter and good food – congrats again, we loved being part of your wedding Andy and Caroline!
Oh I (Toni) loved this shoot. I have been emailing with Caroline for quite some time, when she was organising her and Andy’s wedding. They are both from England (Andy works in Malawi at the moment), travelled to more than 20 countries together and are such a sweet couple. The day we did this shoot was also the day they arrived in Cape Town… (looking good after a long flight, right?). What a natural shoot so close to our most loved Table Mountain… Keep on checking in the next few days when we blog their awesome wedding!
Cape Town. Industrial Paarden Eiland. Saturday early morning. It’s hot. It’s windy. We met up with lovebirds Cara and Kevin who will get married in March this year. It felt like a fashion shoot, the wind was our natural fan for Cara’s beautiful long hair. Thanx guys for dressing up and being awesome, it was hot hot hot! Toni and Desmond
A couple of my friends and I went to ride/skate the new Langebaan skatepark, WOW I loved it! Between my skating session I managed to take a few pictures of Wayne, Savage and Tobie from Salvo Bikes.
It was a super hot day. There was a lot of emotion, lot’s in the color purple, many bicycles, great food and much laughter. Eola and Kristian from London decided to get married in South Africa, Eola’s home country. It was a perfect day, a great start into the new year 2012. Friends, enjoy the ride! P.S. We did a fixie-bicycle shoot a few days prior their wedding.
Had some fun the other day with Peter. Isn’t that BSA lovely??
I met up with Eola and Kristian one morning at 5am to get that early morning sun; boy oh boy was it worth it!! These two are from London and love their cycling, so I decided to organize some fixies from Hello Again in Long Street, and what a rocking shoot it was!! Toni was in Germany at the time and she was dearly missed but I think I managed :) Des
This is another Stellenbosch shoot; yes, people love this little wine town. We understand. It simply has its charm. So we met up with Alexa and Alastair (from Joburg) – it started with spotting an owl in a tree – and then we went for a little walk through Stellenbosch’s lanes. The sun and the fun was with us. We’re excited for your wedding, Alexa and Alastair! Toni and Desmond
You know when people say “we live in a small world” when they hear about you knowing this person they know … someone told me you should rather think “God is big”. So I, Toni, was an exchange student in 2002 in Pretoria and went to school with Marco. 9 years later we met at his cousin’s wedding Desiree in Franschhoek and we couldn’t believe it. There, I also met Anya and it was so awesome to hear from them a few months later telling us they got engaged and if we could do a little shoot. Yes, please ;) Friends, all the best for your time in America – it was so awesome hanging out with you. Toni & Des
After the Voortrekker shoot with Marionne and Hannes last summer we knew their wedding would be something different. Knorhoek’s Towerbosch Restaurant is a kick ass venue decorated in so much style, serving the most yummy food ever – good choice guys! This was one happy affair with lot’s of laughing faces and surprises – we enjoyed every single second of it. Toni and Desmond
